KOTA KINABALU (April 24): Swift action by Tanjung Aru lifeguards and the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) saved an elderly man who was found unconscious at Tanjung Aru Beach 2 here.
The incident occurred at about 9.40am when a member of the public discovered the man, believed to be in his 60s, unresponsive at a hut before immediately alerting lifeguards on duty.
“Responding promptly, the rescue team administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the victim while awaiting the arrival of medical personnel,” said Kota Kinabalu APM officer Captain (PA) Aizex Junior in a statement.
The victim regained vital response and was subsequently transported to hospital for further treatment.
He added that the man is currently in stable condition, attributing the positive outcome to the quick coordination and timely intervention by both lifeguards and APM personnel.
