MIRI (May 30): The diverse communities in Sarawak must continue to foster the spirit of unity and mutual respect in celebrating every festive occasion, including Gawai Dayak.
In making this call, the Sibuti branch chief of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Louis Jampi said Sarawakians should continue to set the best example in demonstrating a strong spirit of tolerance despite differences in religion, beliefs, cultural backgrounds and political ideologies.
“Our diversity is a major strength that must continue to be preserved to ensure social harmony and the stability of the state.
“Amid our cultural and religious diversity, let us continue to nurture the spirit of unity, mutual respect and cooperation for a more peaceful, harmonious and progressive future,” he said in his Gawai Dayak message.
Louis also said every celebration, including Gawai Dayak, could serve as a significant platform to strengthen unity and harmony among people of different races and religions in Sarawak.
“The culture of visiting one another and hosting open houses during the festive season also serves as one of the best ways to strengthen ties among family members, neighbours and the local community.
“May this celebration bring blessings, joy and continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among us all.
“Salam Madani and Salam Sarawakku Sayang,” he said.
