KUCHING (June 25): The Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak (DVSS) will organise three anti-rabies vaccination campaigns this Saturday (june 27) in Siburan, Betong and Sibu.
The Siburan campaign will take place at Dewan Masyarakat Tapah, Kampung Tapah from 9am to 4pm, while the Betong and Sibu campaigns will be held at Dewan Panglima Rentap Betong (9am-1pm) and Permai Lake Garden (9am-2pm) respectively.
“Do not miss out on these opportunities to protect your dogs against rabies. Your dog must be three years old and above, in good health, and not pregnant,” said DVSS in several Facebook posts.
The department added that it is working with the Siburan District Council to offer free dog licensing and microchipping during the campaign.
It advised dog owners in and around the venues to bring their pets for vaccination in a bid to curb the spread of rabies.
“Anti-rabies vaccine shots are crucial in building the immunity of our pet populations against the threat of a rabies outbreak. Installing microchips and licensing also facilitate detection and management of your pet.
“Let us all fulfil our responsibilities as owners who care for the safety of our families and communities,” DVSS said.
The department also appealed to the public not to allow their dogs to roam freely in neighbourhoods.
