KUCHING (July 7): A meeting here on Monday saw the Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) and the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia explore opportunities to enhance economic cooperation between Sarawak and Ukraine.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Hennadii Nadolenko paid a courtesy visit to the SBF office, where he was received by SBF president Dato Jonathan Chai and members of the federation’s council.
According to an SBF statement, the meeting formed part of ongoing diplomatic and business engagement efforts to strengthen international cooperation and foster closer ties between Ukraine and Sarawak.
Discussions focused on expanding bilateral trade and investment, as well as collaboration in strategic sectors.
Both parties recognised renewable energy and related technologies, as a key area for future partnerships, innovation exchange and sustainable development.
They also stressed the importance of strengthening engagement between the Ukrainian and Sarawak business communities through greater networking opportunities, improved communication channels and enhanced business-to-business linkages to facilitate commercial partnerships.
In addition, both sides explored institutional cooperation between relevant organisations in Ukraine and Sarawak to establish more structured frameworks for long-term collaboration and sustained engagement at both the government and business levels.
SBF reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Sarawak as an open and business-friendly destination for international investment while supporting initiatives that drive economic development through strategic partnerships and cross-border collaboration.
The federation said the meeting reflects its continued efforts to cultivate relationships with international partners and facilitate meaningful dialogue to support business growth and economic cooperation.
