BINTULU (July 15): A total of 141 vehicles were inspected during an integrated enforcement operation on the Bintulu-Sibu road on Tuesday.
The Road Transport Department (JPJ) Bintulu conducted the joint operation with the National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).
The operation was carried out to strengthen law enforcement and curb drug-related offences among road users.
“Several offences were detected during the inspection, including driving without a licence, failure to possess a Goods Driving Licence (GDL), expired Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM), violations of Land Public Transport Agency (LPKP) permit conditions, and other technical vehicle offences,” JPJ Sarawak said in a statement.
All offenders were issued with appropriate enforcement action in accordance with existing laws.
AADK also conducted drug screening on 34 individuals during the operation, with one person found positive for kratom.
The agency took further action in accordance with its enforcement procedures.
JPJ Sarawak said the collaboration with AADK reflected the commitment of both agencies to ensure compliance with road regulations, address drug abuse issues, and enhance road safety.
The department added that such inter-agency operations would continue to be strengthened to create a safer and more disciplined road environment for all road users.
