KUCHING: A mother and child had a moment of panic when her Perodua Kelisa caught fire along Mile 4 Kuching-Serian road here yesterday.
The 30-year-old mother was driving towards Mile 4 when she smelled smoke and slowed down to check her car around 11.50am.
It suddenly spewed flames under the bonnet while she was in the process of stopping the car, so she quickly exited the car with her child to safety.
When the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received the distress call and rushed to the scene, 80 per cent of the car had already been burnt.
They managed to put out the fire while no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
