KUCHING: A workshop organised by Sarawak Taekwondo Association (STA) will be held at its head office at Jalan Satok on Oct 23, to brief its members on the association’s plans for next year and the role of Sarawak State Sports Council (MSNS).

In a press statement issued yesterday, STA president Mohd Salleh Sani said the association is going to organise the Sarawak State Junior and Senior Taekwondo Championship 2010 on Nov 13-14 at the Yayasan Sarawak Hall.
“Every association aims to produce caliber players, and with the knowledge and experience of our coaches and instructors, STA hopes to see more taekwondo champions from Sarawak,” Salleh said.
According to him, the organising of this tournament is an essential aspect of building up the association and grooming new talents.
“We aim to provide competitive environments for the exponents to develop and sharpen their taekwondo skills.
“This is a good platform to promote sportsmanship among taekwondo exponents from various clubs and to prepare them for the coming national championship in Kuala Lumpur and Sukma,” informed Salleh.
He also informed that the MSNS will assist STA to hold the Sport Science Level I course for its coaches and instructors.
“The course is to be held in Kuching and is important as it helps to upgrade our coaches and instructors’ knowledge in the areas of sports science which will then be utilised to prepare our members,” said Salleh.
