MIRI: Carlsberg Malaysia is committed to carrying out more community projects that would benefit the underprivileged people in Sarawak.

Its District Sales senior manager Voon Yan Ted revealed that the company has thus far implemented four community projects throughout the state, which have received positive feedback from community leaders, as well as various associations.

“Carlsberg Malaysia emphasised very much on corporate social responsibility (CSR) as we are more than just brewing and selling beer,” he said.

With the company’s CSR motto ‘Sharing with the Community on an Unconditional Basis’, Voon added that: “As much efforts are placed in producing quality products, we are also committed to operate our business in a sound environment that is socially responsible.”

He said this during a presentation of school bags and rain coats to pupils event at Rumah Cr Selan in Batu Niah here recently.

The event, held for a second year and as part of the company’s ‘Back to School Project’, benefited some 200 needy pupils in the longhouse.

“This project was initiated with the aim of improving and aiding the welfare of the underprivileged primary school students across the Dayak communities residing in the rural areas.

“We strongly believe that educating the young minds is a fundamental step in a child’s life and we want to make a difference and engage with the society through our CSR programme,” he said.

Moreover, Carlsberg will also be giving similar sponsorships in Bintulu, Saratok, Sri Aman, Sebuyau and Kuching in the following weeks.

Carlsberg hopes such contributions would make a significant difference to the betterment of the children.
