KOTA KINABALU: A mother and son were arrested by police for possessing 5.2grams of Syabu worth RM1,500.
City police chief ACP Ahmad Sofi Zakaria said the arrest were made at a house in Kampung Tatahan, Inanam on Dec 29 last year.
During the raid, police found 32 plastic packets of substance believed to be syabu which was weighed at 5.2grams and valued at RM1,500, said Sofi.
The mother and son, both foreigners, aged 37 and 16, have been remanded to be investigated under Section Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a jail term of between two and five years and whipping between three and nine strokes.
Meanwhile, three men, including two foreigners, were detained by police for possessing 5.2grams of Syabu.
The suspects, aged 17 to 23, were detained after police spotted them inside a Proton Iswara car acting suspiciously along Jalan Kionsom in Inanam on New Year day last year.
An inspection inside the car revealed a plastic packet of white substance believed to be Syabu weighing at 5.2 grams with a market price of RM1,500.
Initial police investigation also showed the suspects are drug pushers and were operating around the state capital.
They have been remanded where the case is being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
