BN is not perfect – Bung Moktar

TONGOD: Kinabatangan member of parliament Datuk Bung Moktar admitted that Barisan Nasional (BN) was not a perfect party.

“We have made mistakes but we have also rectified them. I have made mistakes myself. Nobody is perfect. But we have proven time and time again that we can deliver,” said Bung Moktar at the launching of BN election machinery in Kinabatangan here yesterday.

Umno Sabah deputy liaison chief Datuk Salleh Said Keruak who officiated the event, shared Bung Moktar’s sentiment, saying: “There has been plenty of changes since Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak took office,” citing increased transparency in politics and further focus on people from all economic levels.

He added that Malaysia’s political standards were maturing.

Salleh said the opposition’s “fear tactics and false promises” could not match BN’s “politics of hope”, where the “spirit of the people are lifted through signs of progress.”

He added that Tongod had seen plenty of development in the past decade.

“There are plenty of leaders but not many leaders have the soul of a true leader. This true leader is one who fights for the rights of his people. This is what I see in Bung Moktar,” said Salleh to a roaring applause.

Meanwhile, Bung Moktar said BN’s strength lies in its unity. He compared

Malaysia to its neighbouring countries, saying Malaysia’s peaceful state could only be brought by BN.

Kuamut assemblyman Masiung Banah echoed Bung Moktar’s sentiment by quoting former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammed, saying: “The only thing that can bring BN to its downfall is BN itself.”

“What’s important is unity. If I’m not selected for the parliamentary seat, I will stand up and support whoever is selected to lead,” said Bung Moktar.

The program saw contributions of fishing equipment and boats, food supply and school appliances to Tongod townsfolk.

Tongod is BN Kinabatangan’s last stop for the BN machinery program which began in Suan Lamba last week, to Tanjung Aru the following day and Bukit Garam on Thursday.
