5,000 to converge at BCCK for Civil Service Day celebration

KUCHING: This year’s state level Civil Service Day celebration will see 5,000 civil servants from 186 state and federal departments converging at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tomorrow.

It is organised by the Chief Minister’s Department under the chairmanship of State Secretary Tan Sri Datuk Amar Morshidi Abdul Ghani and Federal Secretary Datuk Md Yahaya Basimin.

A press release from the Information Department said the event aims to appreciate the contributions of the civil service to the development of the state and nation.

The event is also to enable the civil service to meet and mingle with state leaders, to remind the civil service about their role and responsibilities in the development of the nation and state and to make them stronger in facing the present and future challenges.

The theme for this year’s event is ‘Merakyatkan Perkhidmatan Awam’ (Localising Public Service).

Chief Minister Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud is expected to officiate at the function.

Other activities being lined up are a pledge by the civil servants jointly led by Morshidi and Md Yahaya, presentation of Chief Minister’s Department Five Star Rating Plaques and Four Star Rating Plaques to Accountability Auditing Index, Best Counter Service, Best Key Focus Activity Award, High Performance Team Award and Best Innovative Idea Award.

Also taking place are the Federal Creative and Innovative Trophy for Management and Technical Categories, Exemplary Officer Award, launching of Sarawak Civil Service 10-20 Action Plan and an exhibition on the History of the Resident Office as an institution/system and exhibition on Creativity and Innovation in the Sarawak Civil Service.
