MIRI: Youths should have a positive mindset to help the government engineer social change for the nation’s health.

Assistant Minister of Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin said now is the time for youths to prepare themselves for upcoming challenges in global development with positive thinking.

Speaking at a charity sale by Miri Youth Activities Centre (MYAC) at Myy Mall yesterday, Lee pointed out that youths with a negative outlook would not succeed in life.

“Youths with a negative outlook and mindset tend to blame others, including the government, for their own uneventful life. Instead of complaining, look at how to improve yourself.”

He said the country needs a pool of youths with a positive outlook to become future leaders, with good values vital for development agenda.

“Youths with a positive mindset are the precious asset of the country. They would be able to chip in positive contributions.”

He cited MYAC as a fine example where the center has successfully organised activities to boost youth development.

He hoped MYAC will continue with its noble mission by recruiting more members.

He said this will help the government in its social engineering capacity among youths.

Movements like MYAC, he said, nurtures the young with noble values for voluntary work.

Later at the same function, he presented a grant under Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation worth RM3,000 to the centre.

Meanwhile, the charity sale was held in conjunction with MYAC’s anniversary, where part proceeds would be channelled to Community Rehabilitation Centre (PDK) Miri and Miri Deaf Association.

Also present were chairlady of the centre Rachael Cha and the organising chairman Cherry Chin.
