KUCHING: The SUPP Central Working Committee (CWC) Meeting yesterday decided to sack Temenggong Lu Kim Yong and Pemanca Liu Thian Leong, who both declared support for and joined UPP at the new party’s launch on Aug 16.

SUPP president Tan Sri Peter Chin said those who were present at the launch and captured by the camera would be issued show-cause letters and required to explain themselves within 14 days.

Speaking at a news conference, he said close to 30 individuals had been identified and the ‘identification’ process was on-going, which might lead to a bigger number.

“Certain leaders and members of our party have presented themselves at the launch of UPP and wearing their logo. As a matter of procedure, those who have declared publicly to support and join UPP will be sacked immediately.

“But those who have not said anything, and we noticed their presence, they will be issued with show-cause letters, which they have to reply within 14 days. And if they don’t reply, we will consider them having joined the UPP, then we will sack them,” he said after chairing the four-hour plus meeting at SUPP headquarters.

Chin pointed out that those who were present at the UPP launch, and happened to be SUPP delegates at the coming TDC (on Sept 8-9), must declare whether they were supporting or had joined UPP or they are still SUPP at heart.

“(For) Those publicly declared like Lu and Liu, we have already sent letters.

So far, only two of them have declared joining, the rest were just caught by the cameras, so they cannot escape, they have to explain.”

He said it was imperative for these individuals to declare their stance.

“We want to know their real declaration, SUPP or UPP. There is no way you can have one foot here and the other foot there. So it’s either SUPP or UPP.”
