Sarawak v Perak tie behind closed doors

KUCHING: The Malaysia Cup match between Sarawak and Perak will be played behind closed doors at the State Stadium in Petra Jaya on Saturday.

Football Association Sarawak (FAS) secretary-general Abdullah Julaihi said despite an appeal from Sarawak, the match will be played in an empty stadium as the FA of Malaysia (FAM) had only decided to reduce the fine but not the decision on playing the match behind closed doors.

Sarawak were fined RM80,000 and forced to play two matches in an empty stadium following crowd trouble at the State Stadium, especially in the Super League match against Perak on Aug 30, 2014 and Felda United on June 27, 2015.

He said despite playing without fan support, Sarawak would go all out to clinch three points in the match. Abdullah said Sarawak fans can return to the stadium for the match against JDT on Oct 24. Sarawak under interim coach David Usop have three points in Group B after two matches. — Bernama
