The finalists vying to be ‘Miss College Queen 2016’ at the grand final of the fashion competition to be held at Swinburne multi-purpose hall on April 8.

KUCHING: A total of 14 finalists have been selected for the inaugural ‘College Queen’ recently.

They are Aniqa Shams from Bangladesh, 23, Nisha Thayananthan (Malaysia), 24, Nor Warda Abdul Nasser (Singapore), 23, Nuna Tlimissova (Kazakhstan), 20, Kau Khoon Yen (Malaysia), 19, Careen Kumar (Malaysia), 18, Celine Then Yi Xuan, 20, (Malaysia), Dilzoda Saidova (Uzbekistan), 24, Leila Kaskulakova (Kazakhstan), 21, Jeniffer Jeffrey Peron (Malaysia), 22, Joan Law Yan Ting (Malaysia), 22, Aisha Hamood Ahmed Alhashimi (Oman), 20, Wasana Wickramarathne (Sri Lankan), 21, and Linda Jong Shook Meng (Malaysia), 21.

They will be judged by a panel of judges who include Jackie Butik Impian Pengantin owner Jackie Barahim and several other guest judges to be announced at the grand final to be held at Swinburne multi-purpose hall from 7pm on April 8.

Organised by Swinburne’s Fashion Club in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and UCSI University Sarawak Campus, the club’s very first inter-university competition will witness the finalists compete at a fashion catwalk in three qualifying rounds of outfits including traditional costume, cocktail wear and evening gowns.

Other subsidiary titles for the competition include Miss Photogenic, Miss Popularity, Miss Friendship and Miss Personality.

Minister of Welfare, Family and Women Development Datuk Fatimah Abdullah is expected to grace the event.

The sponsors are Jackie Butik Impian Pengantin, Soulheal Spa & Wellness, The Rock Shop, Bella’s Garden, and Chakkrah Metal Traders.

Tickets are sold at RM15 per person at the front of the Swinburne multi-puspose hall, with complementary finger foods and drinks.
