Two held for openly selling illegal lottery

KUCHING: Two individuals were arrested for allegedly selling illegal lottery tickets during separate police raids on Saturday afternoon.

District police chief ACP Abang Ahmad Abang Julai said the raids were conducted at a five-foot-way in front of a convenience store as well as at an eatery.

He said the suspects, aged 27 and 32, were detained after they were found to be openly selling the illegal lottery tickets at the two premises.

“Items seized were mobile phones, betting slips, stationeries and cash amounting to RM42. The suspects have been detained to facilitate investigation under Section 9(1) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953,” he added.
