JBALB to supply water to areas affected by dry weather

SRI AMAN: The Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB) here will continue to deliver water to households in areas affected by the prolonged hot and dry weather.

According to a press statement received yesterday, the department has supplied water to hospitals and clinics, schools and longhouses in Lubok Antu, Engkilili and Pantu districts since Thursday.

The department has also managed to refill the centralised water collection areas in Sri Aman, which are located in front of the Sri Aman Public Works Department (JKR) office, the state government flat at Jalan Kedang, in front of Sri Aman Prisons, Kampung Pakit, and in Lachau.

As at Thursday, most water supply plants in Sri Aman were still operational, with Bayai operating at 60 per cent.

Lubok Antu’s water supply plant has stopped pumping due to its critical water level.

“The Pantu plant operates only five hours a day, depending on the water level. For the water supply plants in Lingga, Seduku and Stumbin, they could only pump water from 8am to 10am, and from 3pm to 5pm.

“The Skrang and Melugu water supply plants can only operate at 50 per cent capacity, depending on water level and the weather,” said JBALB.

As such, the department advised consumers to conserve and utilise water prudently in view of the prevailing dry spell.

“We appreciate their patience and understanding in facing this situation.”
