Upgrading of schools to start next year

LIMBANG: Works to upgrade all dilapidated schools in this district will start early next year.

Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the state government had allocated RM160 million for the purpose, which would be implemented under the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA).

The Sarawak government had received RM100 million from the federal government this year to upgrade  dilapidated schools in Sarawak.

“The projects are now in the tender process,” he said when met at Bukit Mas Day of Limbang District Council (LDC) at Tasik Bukit Mas Park here yesterday.

Representatives of Limbang Resident and District Office Aspalela Shamuni and Ratnawati Tuah respectively, walikota Sufian Mohat and his deputy Dahlan Dullah, secretary Petrick Linggie Taboh and organising chairman Frederick Lalung Ngilo were among those present.

Dr Abdul Rahman said the upgrading works to be carried out in 2019-2020 would include upgrading of classrooms, teachers’ quarters and construction of new ones.

On Bukit Mas Day 2019 which entered its 15th edition this year, Dr Abdul Rahman said it served as a platform to meet their clients where the public too could take part in the various activities planned.
