KUCHING: The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) will be hold the #MyAPEC2020 Exhibition at the Sabah International Convention Centre in Kota Kinabalu on April 20-22.

A press release yesterday said the event is in conjunction with the Ministers Responsible for Trade (MRT) Meeting.

“The exhibition is aimed to promote greater business linkages among Apec (Asia-Pacific Economic Corporation) business entities and highlight the varied range of products and services as well as to provide a platform for participating companies to network with business delegates and trade visitors,” said the press release.

It will showcase nine targeted sectors – Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Industrial Revolution 4.0; Modern Agriculture and Food Processing; Education; Green Technology and Energy; Healthcare; Professional and Business Services; Transportation (Logistics, Aerospace, and MRO); Lifestyle; and Building Materials.

The exhibition focuses on three priority areas – Improving the Narrative of Trade and Investment; Inclusive Economic Participation through Digital Economy and Technology; as well as Driving Innovative Sustainability – in line with the theme of Apec 2020 ‘Optimising Human Potential towards a Future of Shared Prosperity’.

Matrade chief executive officer Datuk Wan Latiff Wan Musa said #MyApec2020 will be a great platform for Malaysia to drive its agenda towards becoming a sustainable trading nation.

He said Matrade is committed to strengthening Malaysia’s position as a preferred source of quality products and services.

#MyApec2020 will also feature a business matching platform called International Sourcing Programme (INSP).

“The INSP is an effective avenue for exhibitors to find global buyers. It is also a cost-effective programme for SMEs who may not have sufficient means to travel overseas to sell their products and services globally.

“We have seen a lot of successful Malaysian exporters getting their international orders from this effort as it provides greater linkages for both local and foreign companies,” said Wan Latiff.

The #MyApec2020 exhibition will also highlight trade and investment opportunities, as well as special cultural and unique traditions from Sabah.

“A virtual exhibition of #MyApec2020 will also be developed to maximise the reach of products and services showcased at the exhibition to all over the world throughout the year via the Internet,” added the press release.
