KAPIT: The Public Works Department (JKR) has been tasked with developing measures to prevent future landslides at Rumah Bundong.

Landslides have occurred at three areas in front and on the side of the longhouse located at the foot of Bukit Goram.

During a site visit, Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut advised the village security and development committee (JKKK) to use plastic sheets to cover the affected areas as a temporary measure to prevent further landslides in view of the current wet season with heavy rainfall.

At present the structure of the 30-door longhouse has not been affected by the landslides.

Among those present during the visit were Kapit Deputy Resident Galong Luang, administrative officer Robert Anyaw, Public Works Department engineer Kilat Naipok, Kapit District Council deputy walikota Watson Awan, and Cocham Alwi Amos, who represented Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat.
