KUCHING (June 13): Cold hands and feet, chest pain and stomach ache, seizures, and less urine are among signs of children being infected with Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) infographics.

The ministry, through the infographics posted on Facebook yesterday, said other signs included worsening fever, cough, vomiting and diarrhoea, fatigue and not physically active.

“Children who are infected with Covid-19 will not be able to eat and drink orally, have bluish lips and fingernails, and breathing difficulties,” said the statement.

For adults who are infected with the virus, the MoH said the signs would be more or less the same.

“Adults should watch out for signs such as prolonged fever, worsening fatigue, chest pain and breathing difficulties.”

The ministry appealed to individuals who have the mentioned signs to seek treatment immediately.

They can either call 999 or visit the nearest health clinic.

The MoH called for cooperation and attention of all to help break the chain of Covid-19 infections.

On June 4, Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said Malaysia recorded three Covid-19 deaths involving children aged five and below last year.

He said it was more distressing that the same number of deaths were reported in the first five months of this year.

“Three Covid-19 deaths involving children under the age of five were reported last year. What is more worrying is that the same number of deaths were recorded in a shorter period in the first five months of this year,” said Dr Noor Hisham.

As of yesterday, Malaysia’s cumulative number of Covid-19 cases was 563,779 and the death toll at 3,768.
