KAPIT (July 2): A total of 61,636 or 67.8 per cent of Kapit Division residents have received at least their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine as of yesterday (July 1), said Kapit Deputy Resident Galong Luang.

He said this is based on the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s 2020 figures showing 90,900 out of the total 134,000 population being aged 18 and above and eligible for Covid-19 inoculation.

Galong said as of yesterday, a total of 50,139 or 55.15 per cent of eligible recipients had received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

A total of 11,226 or 12.35 per cent of the population had been fully vaccinated against the virus, he said.

“Since we started the mobile outreach vaccination programme from June 14 to July 1, the average dose of vaccines administered per day is 3,116 doses,” he said.

Currently the army’s Royal Medical Corps, along with Health Department staff and volunteers, is in Long Busang to administer vaccines in the remote Kenyah settlement along Sungai Balui.

Located some eight hours by four-wheel drive vehicle along logging roads from here, the area is home to 143 families.
