Youth in Niah killed in self-accident after motorcycle crashes into electric pole

MIRI (May 14): A young male motorcyclist, 22, succumbed to injuries after the motorcycle he rode skidded to the roadside and rammed into an electric pole before he was thrown off into the drain in Niah.

The incident which took place around 6am yesterday was believed to be a self-accident as the victim’s motorcycle had shown no signs of rear – end collision with another vehicle.

The victim was reportedly heading home when the accident occurred.

The father of the youth who hailed from Sungai Saeh Merah, Niah, had been contacted by the police about the incident.

According to Miri Police Chief, ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the police had conducted an investigation at the site of the accident and also checked on the closed-circuit television near the scene.

The case is to be investigated under Section 41 (1), Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987.
