LIMBANG (May 9): Police are investigating the motive behind the sudden departure of two Limbang youths to London, as well as the individual responsible for booking their flight tickets, in efforts to unravel the mystery surrounding their unannounced trip.
Limbang District Police Chief, Supt Parum Niot, said initial investigations revealed that the flight tickets were booked online and sent to the email of 21-year-old Muhamad Izzat Asnawai, who is believed to have travelled with Cathlyenn Santa Liong Siu Zhen, 24.
Both are from Limbang and were reported missing by their respective families.
“Based on the evidence, both Cathlyenn and Muhamad Izzat are currently still in London and the latest information indicated that they were on the same flight and shared the same ticket booking.
“It indicated that they flew from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to London on May 3,” he told the media today.
Police discovered the booking details after examining Izzat’s email account, following reports lodged by their families.
Parum said police are also awaiting further updates from the Malaysian High Commission in London.
The families of both individuals grew concerned after losing contact with them last Saturday.
The last known sighting was in the Horizon Suites area in Selangor, and both have been unreachable since 10pm that day.
Alarmed by their sudden and unexplained overseas departure, the families have expressed fears that the pair may have been misled or scammed into leaving the country.
They have appealed to authorities and the public for assistance, hoping for the safe return of their children.
The case has since garnered widespread attention on social media, with users sharing posts to help locate Cathlyenn and Muhamad Izzat.
