LIMBANG (Oct 2): The Limbang District police have launched a new rural community policing concept for the residents of Rumah Satu, Kampung Kuala Medalam, in a collaborative effort with the Limbang Lions Club Mandarin.
Limbang District police chief, Supt Parum Niot, said the programme is designed to extend outreach to interior and rural areas communities, focusing in key areas of social care, environmental sustainability, and public safety.
“This initiative aims to raise awareness and foster a greater sense of social responsibility,” he said during the event on Tuesday.
A key component of this environmental focus was a community activity where residents participated in releasing fish fry into the Limbang river to support local biodiversity.
The programme also served to honour the community’s elders.
“At the same time, we wish to acknowledge the services and sacrifices of senior citizens by presenting tokens of appreciation as a sign of care and love for the local community,” he added.
The event also featured the officiation of a new bus stop at the village school, alongside an informative talk on bullying issues by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Limbang District Police Headquarters.
The event was also attended by District Governor 308A2 Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Dato Winnie Lee Siew Ping; Limbang Mandarin Lions Club president Kong Yin-Sia; Lions Club Belait, Brunei Darussalam president Phyllis Jong; and senior officers from the Limbang police headquarters.
