State futsal team vying for national slot

KUCHING: Sarawak Futsal team will compete in the National Futsal Tournament 2017 qualifying round at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam, Selangor from Dec 21 to 23.

A total of 10 teams will vie for the last two slots of the tournament which will kick off early next year.

Sarawak will be joined by Perlis, Pulau Pinang, ATM, Pulau Pinang MPPP, KL Petaling Putra, KL City FC, Pahang Kuantan Rangers FC and Sabah Quilmes FC in the qualifying round.

Yesterday, the state team received their sponsorship from Lea Sports Centre (LSC) which was represented by their senior operation manager Poh Siok Hoon at Sarawak Plaza.

During the handing over ceremony, the team received futsal kits as well as sporting gear for training.

Making the Sarawak team are Alim Mahmud, Ahmad Adziemy Bohan, Wan Nur Azhar Wan Ahmad, Nizam Zubir, Azlan Shah Tahir, Dzohrill Hafeeq Ismawi, Izzmal Aizza Tuah, Azierul Joss, Awang Ahmad Alauddin Awang Nordin and Remenor Pit.

The team is managed by Hamzah Brahim, assistant manager Saiful Bahri Ahmad Adibi and coach Ahmad Media Sharkawi.

Meanwhile, LSC and Starsport have been giving their support to the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) since 1994 in promoting and developing local football.
