KUCHING: Some villages in Jalan Puncak Borneo, Padawan were cut off from road access following a landslide near Kampung Pangkalan Ampat yesterday.
According to residents, heavy rains over the past few days resulted in the highway about 60 kilometers from the city center to collapse early this morning.
Thus, the residents of nearly 10 villages affected had to use another road which also suffered damage and flash floods .
“This highway is cut off from early this morning ( yesterday ) due to heavy rain the past few days which caused landslides .
“Some other highways that connect us with other areas were also affected by the damage caused by landslides and flash floods,” he said.
Among the affected villages were Kampung Annah Rais, Kampung Simuti, Kampung Sadir and Kampung Semeru .
It is understood that at the time this story was written today, the road condition was getting worse and there is no any assistance is provided.
Meanwhile, some of the main roads connecting several villages along Jalan Puncak Borneo are also flood.
Utusan Borneo surveys in the area found that the water levels rose sharply to a level of 6 feet.
